Persistent HPV infection after conization of CIN

This study published in BMC Women's Health in May 2023 by Zhang, Ni, Wei, and Liu aimed to evaluate factors influencing persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection after cervical conization in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). The researchers analyzed 28 studies and found that postmenopausal CIN patients with positive surgical margins, residual lesions, and HPV 16 infection were more likely to experience persistent HPV infection after conization. The study highlights the importance of assessing these factors to identify women at higher risk of disease recurrence. Read more here.
