These self-administered tampons allow women to collect samples at home and mail them to a lab for testing, potentially increasing screening rates and reducing the embarrassment often associated with traditional Pap smears. With cervical cancer claiming around 350,000 lives globally in 2022, this innovation could play a crucial role in England’s goal to eliminate the disease by 2040 by supporting early detection and treatment.
