What Happens After Treating Cervical Issues with a LEEP Procedure
Share
This study by Cho, A., Kim, MY., Park, IS. et al., published in BMC Women's Health assessed the long-term outcomes of the loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and examined risk factors for recurrence and preterm birth. Out of 385 patients, 13.5% had issues after the procedure. They found that having positive surgical margins and finding HPV after the procedure increased the chances of having problems. For 31 patients who later had babies, the time between the procedure and delivery was linked to early birth risks. However, only having a history of early birth was connected to actually having an early birth. Read more here.
